PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Dear Families,
We have had a wonderful first week back at school with students arriving refreshed and ready to learn. We are looking forward to a busy but exciting term ahead. You will have noticed that our new hallway and door into the primary corridor was completed over the holidays and has already helped reduce congestion in our open room. Unfortunately, the installation of the new playground equipment in the courtyard has been delayed but we are assured that the work will begin on 5th August.
Welcome to Aunty Deb
Aunty Deb will be joining our staff as our new Aboriginal Education Worker. We are extremely fortunate to have her join us as she brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience. Our students have already had the opportunity to listen to stories, learn some aboriginal language and learn about indigenous plants and their uses. Aunty Deb will be working with classes from prep through to grade 6 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Book Week, Book Fair and Book Parade
As always, we will be celebrating Book Week at Risdon Vale Primary School. Our Book Fair will run from the 14th-16th August with all money raised going straight back into buying books for our school library. On Monday 19th, each class will be sharing at a special Book Week Assembly starting at 1:45pm. On Friday 16th, all children (including kinder) will have the opportunity to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. We will have a parade in the courtyard at 9:15am which parents are welcome to stay for.
