PRINCIPALS REPORT
Dear Families,
Home Reading
Over the past few weeks, a number of students have been recognised in assembly for 100 nights of reading. Along with a certificate, these students were able to select a special book to take home and keep. Reading at home with your child on a regular basis is the best way of supporting their learning and we are appreciative of all of our parents making the time for this to happen. We look forward to more students being presented with their 100 nights (and 200 nights) of reading certificates and books as the year progresses!
SRC
Our SRC organised a ‘Colour Dress Up Day’ on Thursday. The playgrounds were awash with a rainbow of colour and they raised $134.90. They have decided to split the money evenly between The Hobart Dogs’ Home and paying for Leavers’ t-shirts. The t-shirts were presented to students this week and look amazing. A special thank you to our school association who covered the bulk of the cost for these shirts as they have done every year for our grade 6 group.
Uniform
While it was wonderful to see so many students dressed in their colourful clothes for our special fundraising day, it is a timely reminder of the need for students to be dressed appropriately in school uniform as a general rule. Plain navy pants and tops are able to be worn in place of our official school uniform if need be and we do have some second hand items to offer families who are suffering financial hardship. There are also a large number of both named and unnamed items in our lost property.
School Holidays
The school holidays are fast approaching and we are excited to be having some improvements to our school being carried out during this time. We will have new playground equipment installed in the courtyard. We are also having a new hallway constructed to provide access from the primary corridor into the courtyard so that our open room is no longer our only thoroughfare. These works should be completed and ready for use when students return for term 3. A reminder that Monday the 22nd July is a student free day to allow our staff to engage in professional learning. We look forward to welcome students back on Tuesday 23rd.

Interschool Cross Country
On June 13th our Grade 3-6 School Cross Country team competed in the Division C Carnival at Geilston Bay. The team did extremely well and competed fairly and to the best of their ability. Their sportsmanship and behaviour on the day was outstanding. Some of our outstanding results included Ellie Hopkinson 10th, James Bryan 9th, Jayla McCauley 21st, Hannah Bellette 14th, Cayleb Burr 21st, Abbie Cowburn 18th and Kayla Perkins 22nd.
Our team would like to thank Nanny Marlene who was our school official at the finish line and Rob Schmidt who set up our marquees, tarps and school flag and then bused many students back to school once their events had finished. On a cold and windy day this service was appreciated by our students. Thank you Nanny Marlene and Rob!
