PRINCIPALS REPORT
Dear Families,
Learn to Swim
It is wonderful to see so many of our students participating in the Learn to Swim Program at Oceana that is happening this week and next. The students are improving their swimming skills, developing their awareness of water safety, building their confidence and resilience and having fun!
Parent-Teacher Meetings
Teachers are in the midst of writing mid-year reports which will provide parents with an indication of how their child’s learning is progressing this year. These reports will be handed out and discussed during parent-teacher conversations to be held from the 24th to the 28th June. We will be continuing to use the same online booking system we have used in the past to schedule these meetings. The portal will be open for bookings from Monday of next week.
Attendance Update
Most of our classes are well on the way to receiving their attendance reward. It is great to see children listening to our message about still coming to school even if they sleep in or are running late in the morning. While it is best for children to be at school on time, we would rather have them here late than not at all!

IN THE KITCHEN
Well, the weather certainly is getting colder! We are tackling this in the kitchen with the 5-6’s making a hearty lentil and turnip dahl, with Indian yellow rice and hot fresh chapati’s. These dishes smell and look great, but most importantly taste amazing. Ask your child if they have made it and if they enjoyed it!

PINGO NIGHT
A swashbuckling adventure for all ages!
Hobart Rep will delight children and adults alike this winter, with a breathtaking production of the classic high-seas adventure, Treasure Island, adapted by Ken Ludwig from the Robert Louis Stevenson novel.
The coming-of-age story follows Jim Hawkins, an inn-keepers boy whose adventure starts after meeting Billy Bones, an old sailor with a secret map. This map leads Jim and his companions on a high-stakes quest to uncover the treasure hidden by fabled pirate Captain Flint.
This Treasure Island production captures the sweeping extravaganza of life on the high seas, exotic tropical islands and the hunt for buried treasure. It’s filled with thrilling sword fights, colourful characters and a talking parrot!
The talented cast features Katrina Green in the central character of Jim Hawkins, with Jeff Keogh playing the part of the villainous Long John Silver. They are ably supported by a large cast, including Steven Jones, Jen Makin, Michael Hanlon, Matt Dobson, Tai Gardner, Brendon Flynn, Sera Goldstone, Lillie McNamara and many more.
Directed by CJ Bowers, and with a stunning set by renowned Tasmanian designer William Dowd, Treasure Island is a must-see event.
Treasure Island is on at the Playhouse Theatre, Bathurst Street, Hobart
