PRINCIPALS REPORT
Dear Families,
Students are more likely to succeed at school and in life if they are attending school regularly. So far this year, a third of our students have been absent one or more days every fortnight. This translates to missing a whole month of school every year! We want to ensure every one of our students has the best chance of success at school and in life so we are asking families to work with us to improve attendance rates and give our students the education they deserve.
This term we are running an attendance challenge for all of our classes. For every day that the whole class is at school, they will display one of the letters from the word ‘attendance’ in their window. Once the whole word is displayed, the class will receive a reward.
We definitely do not want children to come to school if they are not well enough to do so. We have talked to the children at length about acceptable and unacceptable reasons for missing school (e.g birthdays, shopping trips, haircuts, sleep ins etc). The children are really excited about the challenge which is ongoing meaning every class will be able to reach the reward, even if some take a little longer than others!

IN THE KITCHEN
It’s getting colder, and I don’t know about you, but I like to look to warm and comforting food to keep the cold at bay. This newsletter we have two of the recipes that the classes are cooking. The grade 3-4’s are cooking patatas bravas – delicious fried potatoes in a warm tomato sauce with lots of fresh parsley. The grade 5-6’s are giving fried rice a new twist – serving it in lettuce cups – yum!
