PRINCIPALS REPORT
Dear Families,
Term one is flying by and it is wonderful to see our students engaged in their learning. Our Outdoor Classroom, Kitchen and Garden Program are off to an amazing start with so much produce being grown and used in our cooking already. The new loose parts play area has been a huge success with children developing their communication, cooperation and teamwork skills. If anyone has any suitable ‘loose parts’ to add to our collection, we are gratefully accepting donations.
Water Orientation
Each day next week our prep, grade 1 and grade 2 students will be participating in water orientation sessions at Oceana. These sessions will be run by qualified and experienced instructors and will aim to build our students’ skills and confidence in the water. This is a wonderful opportunity that I know our students will enjoy. Our grades 3 to 6 students will participate in the Learn to Swim Program next term.
Grade 6 Camp
Next Thursday and Friday, our grade 6 students will be attending an overnight camp at The Lea. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to build positive relationships with one another through participating in team building activities. They will also work on leadership skills, public speaking, effective communication and problem solving. We hope our grade 6 students have a wonderful time and come away from the experience with new skills and confidence.
Courtyard Redevelopment
Our primary classes are currently thinking about and discussing how to best redevelop our courtyard space. They are considering how different students like to spend their break times, what would benefit the most students and how we can encourage students to be active and to get along well with another. Some of the ideas we are looking at are currently on display in the open area. If anyone has any suggestions, they are welcome to come along to our next School Association meeting or chat to a School Association Committee Member.

OUR KITCHEN TABLE
This rotation in the kitchen we are using up the last of our summer broad bean harvest by making delicious broad bean falafel. We are serving this with homemade pita bread and a delicious tabouleh, which uses up some of our parsley as well as our beautiful tomatoes that have been growing in the garden!
