PRINCIPALS REPORT
Dear Families,
School Fair
Last Friday I attended my first Risdon Vale Primary School Fair and I was so impressed with the level of organisation, the diversity of what was on offer and the huge attendance. It was lovely to see all the families having so much fun together and catching up with one another - it was a true community event! Thank you to the hardworking team who spent months planning and organising the event as well as all those who stepped up to help on the day. Thank you also to those in our wider community who gave up their time to raise money for our school and our students.
Learn to Swim and Water Orientation
At the end of this term, majority of our students will be participating in Learn to Swim and Water Orientation at Oceana. Our P-2 students will be attending thirty minute sessions each morning for a week and participating in activities to build their confidence in the water. The grades 3-5 (and selected grade 6s) will be participating in the regular Learn to Swim program which works toward students gaining water survival skills and a basic level of swimming competence. They will be attending each morning for two weeks. Permission forms need to be returned to the office as soon as possible.
Social Skills
Our current social skills topic is ‘Talk terrific, not horrific’ and is a focus on using respectful language toward other children and adults. By ‘talking terrific’, we are demonstrating our school value of ‘care’.

Thank you to all the parents and students who supported our Book Fair. Because of your generosity we were able to keep $500 worth of books for our Library.
END OF TERM REWARD AFTERNOON
In the last week of term Risdon Vale Primary School students are being invited to a rewards afternoon in the GP room to celebrate their outstanding behaviour. All students who have either not been issued with a behaviour slip this term, or one at the most, will be invited to attend. Behaviour slips are issued to students when their conduct goes against our school values of safety, fairness and caring.
Students will watch a movie together, and share some popcorn and a drink. So far 93% of our students will be attending. Congratulations to those students, who so far have earned their reward.
