From the Principal
Our current social skills focus is ‘Don’t say no, have a go’. Everyone has different things that they find challenging and everyone’s ‘best’ looks different. We are talking about trying things even when we think we’ll find it tricky or we don’t think we’ll be able to do something as well as other people. It’s all about having a go and trying the best we can!

To help our students develop skills in creativity, teamwork and problem solving, we are creating a ‘loose parts play space’ adjacent to the early childhood playground. It will be able to be used by students of all ages to support their class-based learning and during some recess and lunch times. We will be repurposing items that students can use to build structures, obstacle courses etc. I would like to extend a huge thank you to Rena at the Recovery Shop in Glenorchy who has offered to donate $300 worth of items for this project.
We have had a highly successful week of parent/teacher meetings. We have received positive feedback regarding the online booking system and the majority of our families made appointments to meet with teachers. We ran a little competition to see which class would be the first to have everyone booked and 3/4 Weavers were the winners. The students enjoyed a movie afternoon with popcorn as a reward for nagging their parents to book in!
It has been an extremely busy term and there has been lots of staff and student illness. I’m seeing lots of tired little people (and adults) so I know everyone is very ready for the holidays. I’d like to wish everyone a safe and restful holidays and we will look forward to seeing you all back feeling healthy and energised and ready to learn in term three. A reminder that the first Monday back is a student free day.
