PRINCIPALS REPORT

This term is rushing by – it is week five already!

Over the past two weeks, classes have participated in ‘3 for me’ sessions. Many classes played exciting maths games, Mr Patulny’s class challenged themselves by making symmetrical patterns and Mrs Weavers’ class explored our garden. Thank you to all the wonderful parents and carers who have come along to support their child with their learning.

Our garden is looking amazing thanks to the ongoing hard work of Mrs Burr and Tamara. We are so fortunate to have this incredible space for classes and small groups to make use of and learn in. On Thursday, we had a ‘garden blitz’ and we would like to extend a big thank you to those parents and community members who spared the time to come and help out.

On Monday, our SRC visited the Dogs’ Home in Risdon Vale to find out about the incredible work they do there. The SRC have decided they would like to raise money to buy toys to keep the dogs occupied and happy while they wait to find new homes. Our SRC are going to hold a cake stall next Friday to raise the money to support this great cause.

This year at Risdon Vale Primary School, we are having a whole school focus on improving student safety and wellbeing. At the moment we are working with our students about understanding what it means to be ‘Ready to Learn’. We are talking about how we can tell when we are too over-excited, angry or upset to be ready to learn (feeling like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh), or when we feel too tired or sad or low to be able to learn (feeling like Eeyore). We are also practising strategies that can help us get back to a place where we are ‘Ready to Learn’.

A reminder to parents that the staff at our school commence work at 8:30am and so we are unable to provide supervision for students before this time. It is recommended that students who make their own way to school plan do not arrive before this time. Thank you for your understanding.

Kind Regards,

Rachael
