PRINCIPALS REPORT
NAPLAN
This week students in grades 3 and 5 have been participating in NAPLAN testing. The tests are challenging but all of our students have shown great courage, resilience and resilience as they attempted and completed the tests. Our staff have worked hard to provide the most supportive and settled environment possible for our students so they have been able to give their very best. Well done to everyone involved!
Anti-bullying
This term we are having a big focus on what it means to be kind and to not be a bully. Every Thursday, Mr Harper will work in each class in the school to help them build a better understanding of anti-bullying. We look forward to sharing this work with you as the term progresses.
Improvements to our School
Our ICT lab is now completed and ready to be used by our students. You may have noticed that the path behind the kinder was resealed over the holidays meaning we now have a safe walkway for families coming to and from school. Also over the holidays, our very talented Mrs Gaul with help from Trameka Holmyard and her partner painted a mural on our playground wall.

Congratulations to these students, who will receive Home Reading Certificates at assembly next week.

Bacon and Sweet Chilli Pumpkin Scrolls
Equipment: chopping boards, knives, measuring cups, measuring spoons, large mixing bowl, small mixing bowl, mixing spoon, potato masher scales, baking tray, baking paper
Ingredients
450g pumpkin, seeded, peeled and chopped
170g shortcut bacon, chopped
2/3 cup sweet chilli sauce
½ teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped
3 cups self-raising flour
½ cup milk
1 teaspoon baking powder
50g butter, chilled and chopped
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
Method
- Cook pumpkin in a saucepan of boiling water for 10 minutes, until tender. Drain. Mash. Set aside to cool.
- Preheat oven to 200C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- Meanwhile, cook bacon in a frying pan over medium heat for 5 minutes or until golden. Stir through sweet chilli sauce and chopped rosemary. Set aside to cool.
- Mix together the flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Use fingertips to rub in butter until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Make a well in the centre. Add mashed pumpkin and milk. Use a flat-bladed knife to mix using a cutting action until well combined.
- Turn the dough out onto lightly floured baking paper. Pat to a 20 x 30cm rectangle.
- Spread with bacon mixture and sprinkle with 1 cup cheese, leaving a 2cm border. Roll up dough starting with a long side. Cut into 8-10 pieces.
- Place scrolls, cut side up, on prepared tray. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden.
